Iranian film ‘Azar’ has embarked on a screening run at select film halls across European countries.

Directed by Mohammad Hamzei and produced by Niki Karimi, the Iranian flick will hit the European silver screens, a local media report Friday cited Farabi Cinema Foundation in Iran.

The film has begun its European screening in the German city of Frankfurt on January 5.

‘Azar’ tells the story of a woman whose husband is in jail, as she tries to manage the café restaurant she opened with her husband. She also tries to compromise to get her husband released, but things are not going as planned.

The film is Iranian actress Niki Karimi’s second production after ‘Night Shift’ while she has also directed some movies so far.

Niki Karimi, Hamidreza Azarang, Farid Sajjadi Hosseini, Hasti Mahdavi, Leila Zare, Maedeh Tahmasbi, Pejman Jamshidi and Houman Seyyedi are among the movie's cast.

‘Azar’ has been well-received by international audiences.

Canadian film critic Janet Smith, who sits on the Vancouver Film Critics Circle, commended Iranian actress Karimi's production ‘Azar’ and her "strong, near wordless performance" in a September 2017 review.
